Polk County Supervisor of Elections Office

The Polk County Elections' Office, headed by Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards, is responsible for conducting elections in the county, registering voters and providing election results.

As of Feb. 2, Polk had 321,950 registered voters out of the nearly 440,000 county residents who are 18 or older.

Democrats account for 136,142 voters, or 42.3 percent of the county total, and 120,204 are registered as Republicans, for 37.3 percent. The remaining 65,604 voters, or 20.4 percent, are registered with third parties or have no party affiliation.

The office's Web site, www.polkelections.com, is a good place to stay current on local election information.

The office also oversees municipal elections, many of them held in the spring.

Edwards and her staff check and maintain voting equipment. They also select and staff polling places throughout the county.

Voters must be registered 30 days before an election to cast a ballot.
