Legoland Florida

Legoland Florida, the most prominent tourist attraction in Polk County, opened in October 2011 after much anticipation. Legoland occupies the site of the former Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, one of Florida's oldest tourist attractions.

Legoland is divided into 11 sections, such as Fun Town, Lego City and Imagination Zone. The theme park contains a variety of rides and other interactive elements geared toward children ages 2 through 12 and their parents. The centerpiece of the park is Miniland, a collection of replicas of famous vistas from Florida and the United States made out of millions of Lego bricks. Legoland honors the heritage of Cypress Gardens by retaining the 30-acre botanical preserve of the same name and offering a water-ski show. Legoland has announced plans to open a water park within the attraction in May 2012. The theme park contains several restaurants and shops in which Lego items and other souvenirs are sold.

General admission is $75 for adults and $65 for children and seniors. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free. Standard annual passes are $129 for adults and $99 for children and seniors. A senior garden pass offers admission during weekdays with free parking for $85. (All prices are without tax.) Once the water park opens, admission will be an additional $12 ($3 for children age 2 and younger).

Legoland is generally open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, though the operating schedule varies throughout the year. For more information, call 877-350-5346 or visit http://florida.legoland.com/
