San Francisco’s Joe Montana ran for a score and threw for another, while kicker Ray Wersching kicked four field goals for the 49ers. San Francisco broke out to a 20-0 lead before Cincinnati’s Ken Anderson led the Bengals back. Anderson set Super Bowl records for completions (25) and completion percentage (73.5 percent on 25-of-34 passing) in the loss. Cincinnati receiver Dan Ross caught a game-record 11 catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals became the first team to gain more yards but lose (356 to 275).
